Earthquake!!!

I was sitting on the bed, talking on my cell phone to my sister in Seattle. About 10:10 pm, I felt the bed move as if my dog was trying to get out from underneath it. I looked and my dog was right next to me on the bed.

Then I noticed my bedroom door start to sway. I said to my sister, "You might think I'm nuts but I believe we are having an earthquake up here."

Apparently it was a 5.6!

MtAnnie,

Why is it you can never be on the bed with someone you love(sig.other) when those little quakes hit? It was me and the cat down here last month.

Did you watch Situation:Comedy today? I had a friend TiVo it, but I caught the tease, most of the finalists ideas didn't sound promising, at least as a one-liner.

We felt it pretty strong here in the Bitterroot. Being Southern California-programed, my husband and I picked up the kids and ran for the doorways...the cat pooped on the bed (ugh!). I hope we don't have many more quakes...I definitely don't enjoy them!

Blame it on the Dogs. Too funny.

When I heard about the quake, from a friend of mine at work, I called my parents to find out if they had felt it. My mom answered the phone and told me that she was sitting on the couch watching t.v. when the couch started to move....she thought it was the dog trying to get behind the couch. She said she heard my dad, who was in bed, yell "Bandit, stop!" While both of my parents were about to blame the dog, Bandit was curled up in her bed in the corner of the living room.
The day after, some friends of mine from Corvallis sent me an e-mail about the temblor. In the progress of the story my friend was sitting in a recliner with her daughter when the chair started to move. She also thought the dogs were trying to squeeze in behind the chair.

These stories are great, they show how different Montana quakes are from Cali quakes. Quakes in the Big Sky are so rare that they are initially blamed on the family pet, while in Cali quakes are so frequent, they can judge the intensity and depth quite accurately and not even think of their pet...unless of coarse the temblor is very intense and shallow, in which case the thoughts towards their pets would be for their safety and not as the source of the ruckous.
